Article Guidelines
Invitation for Contributions
The IAAMA invites and encourages members to make contributions to Simply Essential: articles, features, case studies, letters, news and media releases. Simple Essential publishes material on all aspects of Aromatherapy with emphasis on the professional practice, chemistry, pharmacology and clinical applications of essential oils.
Contribution Requirements
When submitting articles or case studies for publication in Simply Essential please follow these guidelines:
Word document or Adobe Acrobat document, with single spacing and normal printing. Please NO centering or special/fancy spacing as it is difficult to enter into the publication for printing.
Case Studies to be a maximum 2,000 words, all Essential oils must include botanical name as well as common name, and no real identities such as date of birth or family names.
All articles are appreciated. Our aim is to give our members interesting articles through out the year.
All contributions must be submitted by electronic means in Microsoft Word or plain text only. They can be on disk accompanied by a hard copy or emailed as an attachment direct to the editor.
All statements must be referenced and a full reference list included.
An abstract of the article should be included.
Referencing should include the name of the author, title of journal or text and year of publication.
Illustrations & Photographs
Illustrations or photos should be identified as original or acknowledged as reproduced by kind permission of (publishers) on a label on the back of the photograph. Do not write directly on the back of either photos nor illustrations. Wherever possible, photographs should be sent by email as a jpeg or tiff file. If scanned from an original picture, please use the following settings: 300dpi, Greyscale and 100% size.
Authors details
With your contribution, please enclose your name, postal address, phone number and email address. Please enclose a biography of not more than 30 words.
Editorial Policy
Subject material must relate to aromatherapy. Contributions are subject to peer review and editing. The editor reserves the right to correct grammar and spelling.
Peer Review
All feature articles will be reviewed by two independent Accredited members of the IAAMA.
Reviewed articles will be returned to the author for modification if required.
